Abstract

To produce a motorcycle with high performance, one that must be modified is the engine. The engine or motorcycle engine is a combination of small components that can change energy, a common modification is the replacement of racing parts, where it aims to maximize volumetric and thermal efficiency so as to get optimal power. One way that is used to get optimal power is to make modifications to the camshaft or often called noken as. The camshaft or camshaft is one of the important components of a 4 stroke piston combustion engine where the camshaft is a shaft that functions to regulate the opening and closing of the intake and exhaust valves. The purpose of this study was to obtain the effect of variations in the distance of the suction valve opening on the performance of a motorcycle engine and to obtain the distance of the suction valve opening which has the best performance of a motorcycle engine, in this study using a variation of the height of the valve opening with a distance of 7.4mm, 8.4mm and 8.8mm which will be analyzed. This varied valve opening height will affect the performance of the motorcycle. From the test results, the height of the valve opening variation that has the best performance is 8.8mm. This is because the height of the valve opening with a distance of 8.8mm can maximize the mixture of fuel and air that enters the combustion chamber
