Abstract
In this study, ASTM A36 steel was welded using the SMAW method using E6010 electrodes with a diameter of 3.2 mm. Welding is carried out with 3 variations of current, namely 90 A, 100 A ,110 A and the welding seam distance is ± 3 mm and ± 4 mm. The welded material was subjected to a tensile test to determine the strength of the welded joint, to observe the microstructure and to observe the weld defects by radiography. The results showed that the weld defects formed at the weld joint with a welding seam distance of 3 mm were relatively less than the defects formed at a welding seam distance of 4 mm. The highest yield strength is shown by the material being welded at 90A, which is 367.83 MPa, followed by the material being welded at 110 A, which is 366.21 MPa. The highest tensile strength is shown by the material being welded at 110 A, which is 474.78 MPa, followed by the material being welded at 90A, at 469.67 MPa. The highest results were found in materials that were welded at a weld seam distance of 3 mm. Elongation under these conditions were 22.9% and 24%, respectively.
