Abstract

Fume hoods are equipment used to keep users away from exposure to chemicals and fine particles. Hazardous and toxic chemicals can harm users of fume hoods equipped with exhaust fans, Arduino, Limit Switches. Exhaust fan functions as a tool to suck air in the fume hood and expel air from inside the fume hood to the outside environment. Many researchers have developed fume hoods that have a manual system into an automatic system where the user must first press on/off to be able to turn on the exhaust fan and lighting and other equipment. The design of this fume hood uses the autocad application as a medium in designing or sketching a fume hood, whether it's making a sketch of the cupboard and also making an exhaust fan hood. Data retrieval is done by calculating the blower head, calculating the specific rotation, calculating the air power, determining the shaft power and efficiency, with the results of the blower head being 1.327 m, specific rotation 261.155 1/minute, air power 1.504 Watt, shaft power 74.3 Watt,efficiency 2,7%.From the results of this study, it was concluded that from the calculation results using the specific rotation formula, the wheel used was an axial wheel with a result of 351.95 1/minute then calculated and the result was 2.36 with c < 2.50 with a specific rotation below < 300 1/minute.the efficiency obtained is 2.7% with NUAir with a result of 1.454 Watt and NPoros with a result of 66.3 Watt, the efficiency result can be 2.7%.
