Abstract

Palm frond waste has the same properties as wood so it is very good for influencing particleboard and reducing wood use. Plasik adhesives and plasticizers are adhesives that are strong enough to be used as a matrix on particle boards. The purpose of this research is to vary the size of the solid waste powder from the processing of palm midrib so that it has the potential to reduce the impact of pollution, and knowing the size comparison of particleboard powder variations as well as the physical properties of density, moisture content, thickness expansion, and mechanical properties of elastic toughness (MOE), and fracture toughness (MOR). In this study using experimental methods, a population of 6 particle boards with a mixture percentage of 70% palm midrib, 25% Polypropylene and 5% Plasticizer using 30, 16, and 4 meshes. then hot pressing temperature of 150% and mold size 30x30x1 cm can be obtained density test value of 0.9gr⁄〖cm〗^3,1 ( gr)⁄〖cm〗^3, and 0,8( gr)⁄〖cm〗^3 . The water content is 0.82%, 0.62%, and 0.45%. Thick development is 11%, 11%, and 11%. MOE is 5.13 kgf/ cm〗^3, 5,228 kgf/〖cm〗^3, and 2,485kgf/〖cm〗^3.And MOR is 1144.2 kg/ cm〗^2, 1234.68 kg /〖cm〗^2, and 623.5 kg/〖cm〗^2. The results are expected to meet SNI 03-2105-2006.
