Abstract

Research placements are based on pedestrian needs both students, lecturers and employees, and of course other pedestrians who need facilities in front of the Riau Islamic University campus. The number of vehicles passing on this road certainly makes it difficult for pedestrians to cross and move from one place to another on the road. Therefore, a pedestrian crossing facility is needed in the area. This study used a guide from the 1997 Department of Public Works directorate general work department on how to plan pedestrian facilities in urban areas using empirical formulas PV2. Next analyze the degree of saturation (DS) to find out the available road capacity. In addition, researchers project crossing facility needs in the next 5 years because of the development of the campus and its surroundings. From the analysis of the calculation of pedestrian volume and vehicle traffic volume, the maximum PV2 results occur at 12.00-13.00 at 3,905,646,075 (3x109). This result is adjusted to the table for determining the pedestrian crossing facility from Bina Marga. Then the results obtained are (> 2x 108, P = 50-100, V => 700) where the crossing facilities produced are pelican cross. But looking at the conditions around the study site that the installation of pelican cross has not met the requirements, the researchers recommend that zebra crossing crossing facilities be a priority. Then repairing the zebra crossing is currently recommended and used for both lanes. This is in accordance with the calculation of the degree of saturation which is 0.96 pcu / hour <1, so the traffic volume is still below its capacity. From the analysis of projections for the next 5 years, the calculation of the maximum PV2 results will occur at 12.00-13.00 at 16,855,024,015 (1.6 x 1010) where the crossing facilities produced are pelicans.
