Abstract

This research was carried out in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Pekanbaru for 3 months from July to September 2020. The purpose of the study was to determine the interaction and main effect of garlic extract and soaking time on the growth of rose cuttings. The study used a factorial completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 2 factors, the first factor was garlic extract with 4 levels, namely 100, 300, 500 and 700 ml/l water. The second factor is the length of immersion with 4 levels, namely 20, 40, 60 and 80 minutes. Parameters observed were growth percentage, age of shoot emergence, number of shoots, longest shoot length, number of roots and root length. The data obtained were analyzed statistically and continued with the BNJ test at a level of 5%. The results showed that the interaction effect of garlic extract and soaking time was significant on the age of shoot emergence, the number of petioles, the longest shoot length, the number of roots and the longest root length. The combination of garlic extract 500 ml/liter of water and soaking for 40 minutes. The main effect of garlic extract was real on all observed parameters, the best treatment was 500 ml/liter of water. The main effect of immersion time was real on all observed parameters, the best treatment was 40 minutes of immersion.
