Abstract

This research is entitled "Effect of Type and Interval of Compound Fertilizer Application on Growth and Production of Batak Onion (Allium chinense G. Don)". This research has been carried out in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Jalan Kaharuddin Nasution Km 11, No. 113, Air Cold Village, Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru, Riau for 3 months starting from July to September 2020. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of interaction and the main types and intervals of application of compound fertilizer on Batak onion plants. This study used a split plot design in the form of a completely randomized design. The main plot consisted of 2 levels, namely NPK Growmore Fertilizer (P1) and NASA POC (P2) and the subplots consisted of 3 levels, namely once every 3 days (N1), every 7 days interval (N2), and every 11 days interval (N3). . Parameters observed included plant height (cm), number of leaves (strands), number of tillers (per clump), wet weight of tubers per plot (g), dry weight of tubers per plot (g), tuber weight loss (%) and harvest index. (%). The data from each observation parameter were statistically analyzed and further tested for Honest Significant Difference (BNJ) at the 5% level. The results showed that the interaction effect of species with time intervals had a significant effect on the parameters of the number of leaves and harvest index with the best treatment P1N1 namely NPK Growmore (P1) fertilizer at intervals of 3 days (N1). The main effect of Interval on Batak onions has a significant effect on the parameters of the harvest index observation with the best treatment being once every 3 days (N1). While the main effect of the type of fertilizer on Batak onion plants did not significantly affect all observation parameters.
