Abstract

The aim of the study was to determine the interaction effect and the main effect on the growth and production of shallots given POC Eceng Gondok and KNO3. This research has been carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Jalan Kaharuddin Nasution KM 11, Air Cold Village, Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru City. The time of this research has been carried out for four months starting from August 2020 to November 2020. The study used a Factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of two factors. The first factor is the concentration of water hyacinth POC consisting of 4 levels, namely P0 = 0 ml/l, P1 = 100ml/l, P2 = 200ml/l, and P3 = 300ml/l, the second factor is KNO3 (K3) which consists of 4 levels, namely K0 = 0 g/plot, K1 = 15 g/plot, K2 = 30 g/plot, and K3 = 45 g/plot so that 16 treatment combinations were obtained with 3 replications, so there were 48 experimental units. Each of 25 plants and 5 plants were sampled, so that the total number of plants was 1200 plants. The parameters observed were plant height, harvest age, number of tubers per clump, weight of wet bulbs per clump, dry weight of bulbs per clump, tuber shrinkage weight, dry weight of bulbs per bulb, and grade of shallot bulbs. The data were statistically analyzed and continued with the honest significant difference test (BNJ) at the 5% level. The results showed that the interaction of water hyacinth POC and KNO3 had an effect on the harvesting age of the plant. The best treatment was a combination of water hyacinth POC with a concentration of 200 ml/l and a dose of KNO3 30 g/plot (P2K2). The main effect of water hyacinth POC was significant on plant height, harvest age, wet weight of bulbs per clump, and dry weight of bulbs per clump of shallots. The best treatment for water hyacinth POC with a concentration of 200 ml/l (P2). The main effect of KNO3 fertilizer application was only significant on the harvest age parameter. The best treatment was the dose of KNO3 30 g/plot (K2).
