Abstract

Currently, the Muara Fajar 1 TPA is no longer used as a final waste processing site. This is because the garbage in the Muara Fajar 1 TPA has been overloaded. Therefore, it is only used as a place for weighing waste before it is processed at the Muara Fajar 2 TPA. This can provide an opportunity to take advantage of the location with other functions, one of which is educational tours related to waste management. The purpose of this study was to determine the use of Muara Fajar 1 landfill as an educational tourism site. This study uses a quantitative qualitative descriptive method using a deductive approach. To obtain data using data collection techniques, namely field observations and questionnaires distributed to 100 respondents in Muara Fajar Village using simple random sampling technique. The results of the questionnaire were processed using scoring analysis using a Likert scale. To find out what strategies can be produced, a SWOT analysis can be formulated. Based on the research results, it was found that (a) for the criteria for educational tourism, of the eight principles of educational tourism criteria, three of them had not met the criteria, namely; tourism activities respect local culture and are sensitive to the existence and development of this culture, consistently making visitors' aspirations as input and consideration in developing tourism activities and marketed and promoted honestly and accurately so that when visited can meet real tourist expectations. (b) For potential identification, of the five potentials, the results of the potential score are composting with a total score of 453 with a percentage score of 90.6%. For recycling has a total score of 454 with a percentage score of 90.8%. Park potential has a total score of 442 with a score percentage of 88.4%. The potential for a waste bank has a total score of 453 with a percentage score of 90.6% and the last potential for methane gas has a total score of 433 with a percentage score of 86.6%. (c) To make a strategy in utilizing the Muara Fajar TPA as an educational tour using a SWOT analysis, the results of the strategy have 2 strategies, namely the existing potential to be repaired and to increase the potential that can be utilized in the Muara Fajar 1 TPA to attract interest. investors and the tourism market (School Children) as well as government cooperation between the Pekanbaru City government and the Korean Government to provide technology at the TPA to reduce existing waste. The weakness-opportunity strategy has 2 strategies, namely there are still solid waste activities in the TPA. In order to make Muara Fajar 1 landfill as an educational tourism site, a different route has been made for the entry route for garbage from the tourist route to attract investors and the tourism market as well as cooperation between governments in order to fix the existing facilities and infrastructure at the TPA. threats have a strategy, namely the existence of potential and technology that can be used as educational tourism can be strengthened by the existence of policies from the government and prioritized funds for the use of Muara Fajar 1 landfill and for strategies for weaknesses, the strategies have a strategy, namely by making government policies for TPA Muara Fajar 1 as an educational assistant can help repair existing facilities and infrastructure and increase funds for the TPA
