Abstract

Brine is produced by the well, it is often encountered in the shape of an emulsion that would adversely affect the environment from an injection well. The emulsion that will be analyzed in this research is the type of oil in water (O/W) is using the method of microwave radiation. The research is to separate the stability of the oil emulsion in water. The brine was used for 120 seconds, 150 seconds, and 180 seconds for separating water from oil because at the time it was radiated will occur between microwaves and water molecules which will produce heat and magnetic force on the molecules, resulting in a flocculation process or an approach to each droplet, then separating the outer film to form coalescence or the merger of each droplet and the evaporation of oil molecules, then the water droplets and oil droplets will be separated based on its density. The result before using microwave radiation indicate oil and fat 78,8 mg/L, pH 9,41 salinity 7500 ppm. After using microwave radiation with 120 seconds, 150 seconds and 180 seconds of oil and fats 27,2 mg/L, 18,2 mg/L and 2,6 mg/L, pH value was 8,86, 8,61, and 8,15 and the value of salinity was 6000 ppm, 5000 ppm and 4000 ppm.
