Abstract

Many areas in Riau province have peat soils. Peat soil classified as soft soil, so it needs improvement to achieve the desired bearing strength. Cakar Ayam (CAM) has been applied as reinforcement in soft soil. Then this research looks at the behavior of the modified chicken claw system on the peat soil under the heap. The test was carried out at a scale of 1:10 in the laboratory. The model used is a Cakar Ayam plate (CAM) with dimensions of 75 cm x 25 cm with a thickness of 3 cm. The plain plate and Cakar Ayam (CAM) models are made from a mortar mixture with the addition of wire iron as reinforcement. The arrangement of the model claws is one row of claws with 3 claws. Loading is done by placing the load on the plate model. The loading is carried out in 3 stages, with the same load. After the loading is carried out, it is observed that the consolidation settlement occurs until the decrease is almost constant. The data obtained from the test results are then processed in the form of tables and graphs of settlement and time according to the length of time of decline. The results of the loading test on the plain plate and the CAM plate have almost the same reduction time. The settlement of the plain plate reaches 15 mm, then on the CAM plate the settlement reaches 12 mm at the end of the reading. In the CAM model, settlement occurs due to differences in the decrease between the edge of the plate and the center of the plate which occurs due to the initial loading. With claws that reduce the settlement amount to 14.1%, claws are not very effective in reducing plate settlement against even loads on peat soil.
