Abstract

The mapping study of flood-prone areas was conducted in pekanbaru city, riau province, which is located at the coordinates of 0°25'29.20" - 0°39'15.22" North Latitude and 101°20'43.39" - 101°34'25.60" East Longitude. This study aims to determine the common causes of floods and the influence of geological conditions, land use, watersheds on flood problems. This study uses two types of data in the form of primary data and secondary data in the form of geomorphological, geological, rainfall and land use data. analysis of flood-prone areas in this study using geographic information systems (GIS) that can help spatial analysis of flood disaster vulnerability levels with visual mapping models. Geomorphological analysis produced 2 types of geomorphological units, namely, lowland denudational geomorphology units and structural lowland geomorphological units. River flow patterns consist of dendritic, sub-dendritic and parallel flow patterns. The location of the flooding occurred in 11 stations in Pekanbaru, which generally occur in densely populated areas with a slope of 0º - 1,5º. Pekanbaru city rainfall is relatively high with 1 year rainfall, in 2018 it is 2621.5 mm. Areas prone to flooding in the city of Pekanbaru are divided into 3 categories, namely, not vulnerable with an area of 64.575%, quite vulnerable with an area of 23.386% and prone to an area of 12.039% of the total research area.
