Abstract

This research entitled The Effect of Paper Ash and CPO Waste on the Growth of Oil Palm Seeds (Elais quineensis Jacq) under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Hasan Basri Jumin, M.Sc. This research was carried out in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of Riau for 5 months starting from October 2020 to February 2021. The purpose of this study was to determine the interaction effect and the main effect of paper ash and CPO waste on the growth of oil palm seeds. This study used a 2 factorial completely randomized design. The first factor is paper ash 0, 4 g, 8 g, and 12 g/polybag. The second factor is CPO waste 0, 200 ml, 400 ml, and 600 ml/polybag in order to obtain 16 treatment combinations. Each treatment combination consisted of 3 replications, so that 48 experimental units were obtained. Parameters observed were plant height, number of leaves, root volume, relative growth rate, net growth rate, and root/shoot ratio. Observational data were statistically analyzed and continued with the BNJ test at the 5% level. The results showed that the interaction of paper ash and CPO waste had a significant effect on all parameters except the number of leaves. The best treatment was found in the treatment of paper ash 4 g/polybag and without CPO waste (P1N0). The main effect of real paper ash on all parameters. The best treatment was found in the 4 g/polybag (P1) paper ash treatment. The main effect of real CPO waste on all parameters. The best treatment is found in the treatment of CPO waste 200 ml/polybag (N1)
