Abstract

One of the children with special needs is autistic, autistic are children who experience disturbances in behavior, communication and interaction. In interaction disorders, autistic children tend not to want to join friends around them, but autistic children will be alone and cool with their own world. In communication disorders, children with autism have difficulty in language. This research was conducted to find out how the communication of autistic children in social interaction at SLB Pelita Nusa Pekanbaru. This study uses a descriptive research approach. Data collection techniques through observation and interviews. In this study using the theory of Symbolic Interaction according to Herbert Blumer as the basis for making this thesis. The number of informants assigned is 5 people. The results of this study describe the interaction of autistic children with teachers having the characteristics, (1) the form of communication used is nonverbal communication and verbal communication, (2) teacher direction, because direction / instructions from the teacher are needed in interacting, (3) Tools, in the form of pictures and inanimate objects to make it easier for autistic children to interact. To interact with friends, autistic children who have minimal interaction will immediately join themselves. Meanwhile, autistic children who can interact will invite their friends to talk. Autistic children have the ability to respond well and also body language/sign language expressed by autistic children through happy language in the form of smiling, running and jumping, and the spoken language used by autistic children is the sound they make. To interact with autistic children, they have not been able to fully see the eye contact of their interlocutor when interacting, it does not mean that they cannot see the other person's eyes.
