Abstract

Palm oil palm sugar agroindustry can be an alternative in the utilization of old and damaged oil palm plant waste. However, there is no guarantee that the availability of damaged and old oil palm plantations will threaten the sustainability of this business. This study aims to analyze: (1) characteristics of entrepreneurs and business profiles; (2) Technical production and use of inputs; (3) Cost, revenue, and business efficiency; (4) Added value in palm oil palm sugar agroindustry. This study used a survey method, which took place in Sekayan Village, Kemuning District, Indragiri Hilir Regency. Entrepreneur respondents were taken by means of a census with a total of 3 people. The data used in this study are primary data obtained directly through interviews, and secondary data. Data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively and quantitatively. The results showed that: (1) The characteristics of palm oil brown sugar entrepreneurs showed that: the average age was 56 years (productive), 7 years of education (equivalent to junior high school), 3 years of business experience (low), family dependents of 3 people. The business profile shows: palm oil palm sugar agroindustry is classified as a micro business with sales of Rp. 216,000,000/year, capital of Rp. 2,190,000, and the number of workers is 2 people. (2) The technical production of palm palm sugar starts from the stages of tapping sap, filtering, cooking and stirring, printing, and packaging. The use of inputs consists of raw materials, namely coconut sap as much as 30 liters/production process, 0.94 HOK labor/production process, supporting inputs (75 kg granulated sugar/production process, 0.10 liter cooking oil/production process, and 1 bunch of firewood/production process (3) The production cost of palm oil palm sugar is Rp. 1,062,003/production process, which consists of variable costs of Rp. 1,059,950/production process and fixed costs of Rp. 2,053/production process The gross income of brown sugar is Rp. 1,200,000/production process and the net income of palm sugar is Rp. 137,997/production process. The efficiency (RCR) of brown sugar is 1.13, which means that it is profitable and feasible to cultivate. ( 4) The added value obtained from palm oil palm sugar agroindustry is Rp. 231,747/liter with a value added ratio of 19.31%.
