Abstract
The purpose of this study was to find out the description of prisoners' personality in Bangkinang. This study involved 288 prisoners who were selected using a 2- stage cluster random sampling technique . The measuring instrument used is the Big Five Inventory (BFI) by McCrae and Costa and has been adapted by Ramdhani (2012) which consists of 44 items . The analysis used is descriptive statistical analysis .The results of this study indicate that of the five factors found the most prominent personality factors were agreeableness with a mean of 3.83 and the lowest is a personality factor neuroticsm with a mean value of 2.98. If viewed from the age range, it is found that for ages 20-40 years and 40-65 years it is equally prominent in personality factors agreeableness for the two age ranges with mean values 3.82 and 3.86 while personality factors with the lowest mean were neuroticsm factors with a mean of 3.00 and 2.98. Analysis based on the type of crime, there is drugs and crime shows that the two types of crime both have the lowest mean value on neuroticsm personality factors with mean values of 2.90 and 3.15.
