Abstract

Food crops are a very important sub-sector for the world. The rice plant which then produces rice is a strategic commodity for the Indonesian nation because it can affect economic stability through inflation (price volatility) and national stability (social upheaval). This study aims to analyze: 1) the characteristics of farmers, traders, farm profiles, 2) production costs, income, and marketing efficiency, 3) channels, institutions, and marketing functions. This research used a survey method which was conducted in Teluk Piyai Village, Kubu District, Rokan Hilir Regency. This research was conducted for 6 months, from July 2020 to December 2020. Respondents were collected by means of simple random sampling and census. The data collected consisted of primary and secondary data. The results showed that the characteristics of lowland rice farmers include: The average age of lowland rice farmers is 44 years, the last average education is elementary school, the most length of farming is in the range of 1-10 years and the number of dependents of the family is 5-6 people on average. The lowland rice farming profile includes: land ownership is divided into private and leased land with the highest land area of ​​8 hectares and the lowest is 1.5 hectares. The scale of the business is quite large with 10 workers / Ha with a piece rate of Rp. 6,150,000.00. Farming capital for 1 hectare of land is Rp. 7,884,000.00. Farming analysis includes: Production costs consisting of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, labor, equipment depreciation totaling Rp. 7,884,000.00 / Ha. The gross income for a land area of ​​1 hectare is IDR 15,300,000.00 and the net income for private land is IDR 7,416,000.00 while the net income for leased land is IDR 5,416,000.00. Marketing efficiency is measured by the Return Cost of Ratio (RCR). Lowland rice farming in Teluk Piyai Village produces an RCR of 1.94, which means that every IDR 1 spent on lowland rice farming will generate a gross income of IDR 1.94 or a net income of 0.94.
