Abstract
Felons’ life in Class IIB Pekanbaru Jail is limited in many aspects and full of psychological pressures. Psychological pressures can make someone experiencing psychological problem or it can be a way for somebody to be a resilient person. Resilience is an ability of someone to rise in difficult situation. Thus, the purpose of this research is to know the factors which create felons’ resilience and how is the process of becoming a resilient felon. There were two informants in this research. They had run their punishment in the jail for two years. The method used in this research was qualitative descriptive with phenomenology approach. The research results show that there are seven factors which create felons’ resilience. Those factors are emotional regulation, implus control, optimism, causal analysis, empathy, self efficacy, and reaching out. Both informants also had been through up and down process during their stay in jail. That process is such as negative experience encountered by informants during their life in jail, however because of the seven factors mentioned beforehand, they can survive living in Class IIB Pekanbaru Jail.
