Abstract

ABSTRACT Khairunnisa Indah Budiana. 2020. Children's Language Acquisition (Case Study of 2-3 Years Old Khalif) in the Puri Indah housing complex, Tambang sub-district, Kampar Regency. This research was motivated by language delays in a 2-3 year old child named Khalif, even though there were no problems with physical, motor and environmental development. The objectives of this study were to: (1) describe how the language acquisition of children in the one-word stage (Case Study of 2-3 Years Old Khalif) in Puri Indah housing, Tambang sub-district, Kampar Regency; (2) describe how the acquisition of children's language in the initial combinatorial utterance (Case Study of 2-3 Years Old Khalif) in the Puri Indah housing complex, Tambang sub-district, Kampar district. This research method is a descriptive method with qualitative and quantitative approaches, while the type of this research is field research or survey. The research data collection technique uses the recording technique (audio), the see-see technique, fishing technique, and note-taking technique. The data analysis technique used a descriptive method. Through the results of the study, it was concluded that: (1) Khalif had acquired the one-word stage language. The words spoken by the Khalif consisted of many words or varied. However, there are still many words that have not been pronounced correctly, or there are still many words that are abbreviated or simplified in their pronunciation. But the words that are pronounced correctly are the word ada, yes, father, lama, broom, oom, and word tired; (2) The Khalif has also acquired the initial combinatorial language of speech. Acquisition of children's language in the initial combinatorial utterance is at the Mean Length of Utterance (MLU) of 3.04 or at stage VII of language acquisition, namely language development aged 35-39 months. Thus, Khalif's acquisition of the combinatorial utterances of children at the beginning of the group is still in accordance with their age development. However, the problem is the same as the one-word stage language processing, namely there are still many words that have not been pronounced correctly. This means that there are still many sentences whose words are shortened or simplified.
