Abstract

The aim of the study was to determine the interaction and main effects of Guano and POMI fertilizers on the production of melon plants (Cucumis melo L.). This research was conducted in the experimental field of the Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of Riau for 3 months starting from September to November 2018. The research design used was a factorial Completely Randomized Design consisting of 2 factors, the first factor being fertilizer Guano (G) consisting from 4 levels, namely: 0, 420, 630, 840 g / plant and the second factor is POMI (P) which consists of 4 levels, namely: 0, 5.0, 7.5, 10.0 cc / l water. The parameters observed were flowering age, fruit circumference, fruit weight per fruit, production per plot, thickness of fruit flesh, and taste test. The last observation data were analyzed statistically and continued with a BNJ followup test at the level of 5%. The results showed that the interaction of guano and POMI fertilizers had no significant effect on the observed parameters. The main effect of guano fertilizer was apparent on parameters of flowering age, fruit circumference, fruit weight per fruit, production per plot, thickness of fruit flesh and taste test with the best treatment of 840 g / plant. The main effects of POMI were apparent on parameters of flowering age, fruit circumference, fruit weight per fruit, production per plot, thickness of fruit flesh and taste test, with the best treatment of 10 cc / l water.
