Abstract

Central Sumatra basin is one of the basin area in Indonesia that has considerable hydrocarbon potential, particularly in the field by KASTURI located in the Regency of Rokan Hulu, Riau Province, Indonesia. The purpose of this research is to identify a productive of structure layer on the exploration well on the Central Sumatra Basin. Furthermore to determine the value of petrophysical rock parameters recorded in log curves generated during logging and calculating the volume of hydrocarbon in the exploration well as a consideration, before further exploration and exploitation. This research used is descriptive methods and petrophysical analysis. The qualitative and quantitative methods include literature study of the basics concept of petrophysical parameters to be used, Determining cutoff value, making subsurface distribution maps, and volumetric that is a basic method to calculate the volume of hydrocarbons. Based on data analysis and discussion of the reservoir of KASTURI wells has a value of shale volume average of 13%, porosity 25%, water saturation of 64%. This calculation is obtained by using a cutoff value for the volume of shale reservoirs <52%, effective porosity >11%, water saturation <61%. After obtaining reservoir petrophysical parameters, the next step is hydrocarbon volume calculation using the volumetric method. Based on this analysis, it is known that total volume of oil in the reservoir hydrocarbon type is estimated at 60.876 MMSTB.
