Abstract

Fire is one the serious threats faced by people in urban areas. The factors causing the fire are also very diverse such as gas leakage, explosion of flammable chemicals, electrical short-circuit, fires also cause very complex losses such as loss of property, psychological disturbances, and even loss of human life. The purpose of this study is to determine the condition of the existing fire department post whether the location is optimal. The location optimization is measured based on how much coverage the services provided by each fire station and how close the fire station is to areas considered hight levels of fire disaster vulnerability. The analysis used to determine the range of services is a quantitative descriptive with a buffer tool in the GIS program. Next the analysis used to identify the level of fire hazard used scoring analysis. This analysis is a combination of the result of the variable building density, distance of the fire station, intensity of fire events and settlement patterns. Based on the result of the study is known that there are 8 extinguisher posts today in Pekanbaru. Analysis of service coverage show that all of the extinguisher posts have optimal coverage because they are in accordance with PU Permen Number 20 of 2009 which states that the minimum coverage of a fire extinguisher is 2.5 Km2. The result of the analysis of fire-prone areas show that there are 5 extinguisher which are considered to be optimal locations, namely the Tampan post, Payung Sekaki post, Marpoyan Damai post, Command post (Sukajadi) and Bukit Raya post.
