Abstract
Pangkalan Kuras District, Pelalawan Regency, Riau Province, has great potential in the field of oil palm plantations, with many oil palm companies. This study aims to determine the spatial and socio-economic effect of oil palm plantations in Pangkalan Kuras District. The problem of this study is how the influence of oil palm plantations on the socio-economic conditions of the community in Pangkalan Kuras District, the problem of the influence of oil palm plantations is not only positive but also has a negative impact on the socio-economy to the community. The negative impact of uneven community welfare is indicated by the high poverty rate in Pelalawan Regency, the potential for conflict caused by social jealousy caused by local residents to migrants in easily accessing jobs in the oil palm plantation sector. This study used a deductive approach while the purpose of this study is to analyze oil palm plantations on spatial and socio-economic conditions in Pangkalan Kuras District. The data used in this study, were primary data in the form of field observations and questionnaires and secondary data in the form of related agency data. This research method used quantitative by using overlay analysis and Likert scale analysis. The results of this study there were five large oil palm plantation companies, namely PT. Surya Bratasena is in Sorek Dua Village, PT. Musim Mas is located in Batang Kulim Village, PT. The Hibrindo Core style is in the Village of Kemang, PT. Sumber Sawit Sejahtera is located in Terantang Manuk Village, PT. Safari Riau is located in the Terantang Manuk village which as a whole all of the companies belong to the large industrial category. spatial change in 2010 was dominated by Dense Forest with an area of 6.699.45 Ha or 88.1%, then in 2015 it was controlled by oil palm plantations with an area of 101.33.98 Ha or 95.5%, there were a decrease in dense forest with an area of 0.45 Ha or 0.04%, and in 2018 there was a change in land use that is more controlled by acacia forests with an area of 52.954.35 Ha or 44.4% this increase is due to land conversion to oil palm plantations. Shrubs and dense forests, oil palm plantations have decreased by an area of 50.831.69 Ha or 42.7%. Every period of time the dense forest has decreased very significantly. Socioeconomic with the presence of oil palm plantations influential can be seen from the answers of respondents from the level of education to land fires answered strongly agree with a level of score above 50% that means it is categorized very well, on the social conflict variable the community thinks that strongly disagree with the existence of oil palm plantations causing conflict social relations between indigenous people and migrants and social jealous conflicts between indigenous people. Based on the results of the analysis with the existence of oil palm plantations was very influential on the spatial and social economy of the Pangkalan Kuras District community.
