Abstract
Household expenditure in this study includes all households that have catfish farming. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of catfish farmers, analyze the structure of household income of catfish farmers, analyze food and non-food expenditure of household catfish farmers, and analyze the factors that influence the expenditure of household catfish farmers in Pekanbaru City. This research method is a survey method located in Pekanbaru City. This research was conducted in August 2018 until January 2019. Samples were taken by simple random sampling of 50 catfish farmers. The results showed the age of catfish farmers in productive age. Duration of education for farmers does not finish high school. The total number of family members of the farmer is generally 5 people. 6.5 years of farming experience with an average pool area of 387.06 M. The source of household income comes from catfish farming and non catfish farming. The biggest source of income comes from the income of catfish farming. Household expenditure consists of food and non-food expenditure. The largest expenditure of households is non-food expenditure, namely housing expenditure. Significant factors affecting the household expenditure of catfish farmers are the number of family members, the cost of children's education, and the length of education of farmers. The results of this study recommend the importance of counseling to catfish farmers in order to increase their production.
