Abstract

The role of a teacher at school is not only as a transmitter of ideas but also as a transformer and catalyst of values and attitudes. The attitudes are related to morals, guiding good morals on children can be done gradually through training, so that they will be embedded in their souls and become a habit which eventually forms good morals in everyday life. If the morals are not guided, formed and directed by the teachers, the students will have bad morals or personalities. In this case, the teachers play an important role in guiding good morals or praiseworthy morals such as being honest, keeping promises, being trustworthy, forgiving and being modest. Based on the previous survey result, it was found that the signs of students’ characters were as follows: some students did not pay attention to the teacher during class hours, some students kept littering, some students took their friends' things without permission, and some students did not do the assignments given by the teachers. The problem formulation of this study: how are the teachers’ roles in guiding students’ moral at MTsN 5 of Rokan Hulu? The aim of this study is to investigate the the teachers’ roles in guiding students’ moral at MTsN 5 of Rokan Hulu. The type of this study is descriptive, with a population consists of 15 teachers. The data collection technique used is questionnaire, then the data are processed to obtain results. The study shows a very good result with a percentage of 89% which lies between 81% - 100%.
