Abstract

One problem that is often faced in Indonesia, especially in the Riau region, is overload. On the other hand the paved road segments that are passed still use standard asphalt. Therefore, it is necessary to find an alternative to improve the performance of asphalt mixture, namely using Buton asphalt or Asbuton because it has a low penetration so that it is expected to increase the stability value of the asphalt mixture. The asbuton used in this study was Jaya Buton Modified Asphalt (JBMA-50) processed products from PT. Hasrat Tata Jaya, Pekanbaru, Riau by using material from the Kampar Batu Bersurat quarry. This study aims to determine the comparison of Marshall test in modified AC-WC mixture using JBMA-50 Asbuton compared to using oil asphalt (secondary data) with the same material and Retona Asbuton (secondary data) with different materials. The method used was experimental in the laboratory by making specimens for the Marshall Test so that the values of the Marshall parameters for each bitumen variation according to the 2010 Specifications (Revised 3) of Bina Marga. From the research that has been carried out in the laboratory on the ACWC mixture Modified with Kampar material using JBMA-50 asbuton, the optimum asphalt level was 5.8% and the Marshall parameter values at optimum asphalt levels were obtained: stability 1,397.20 kg, Void In Mix (VIM) 3.74%, Void in Material Aggregate (VMA) 15.60%, Void filled with asphalt (VFA) 76.0%, Flow 3.43 mm, Marshall Quotient (MQ) 398.98 kg/mm and Bulk Density 2.329 gr/cc. All values of the Marshall parameters obtained from the test results meet all requirements in the Bina Marga specification 2010 (revision 3). The value of VIM and VMA of JBMA-50 asbuton tends to be lower than oil asphalt and Retona asbuton, indicating the asphalt mixture is more waterproof. Larger VFA values of JBMA-50 asbuton indicate the asphalt mixture has high durability. The stability value of JBMA-50 asbuton is higher than oil asphalt and retona asbuton so that it is more resistant to deformation, both permanent and plastic. The use of JBMA-50 asbuton proved to be able to increase the value of strength and resistance to the laston wear layer (AC-WC Modified).
