Abstract

Juvenile delinquency along with the progress of development gives a significant influence on the development and change of life values in society. Children with authoritarian parenting do not feel happiness, feel frightened, feel inferior when compared to others, are unable to start activities, and their communication abilities are relatively low. Children with authoritarian parenting have the possibility to behave in juvenile delinquents resulting in delinquency. This study aims to determine the relationship between authoritarian parenting with juvenile delinquency in Pekanbaru YLPI high school students. The subjects in this study were students of class X and XI as many as 170 people who were selected based on the simple rondem sampling method. Measuring instruments used are authoritarian parenting scale and juvenile delinquency scale. Data analysis method uses product moment analysis using SPSS 21.0 for Windows series computer program. Based on the results of the study obtained a significant value of 0,000 (Sig ≤ 0.05) indicating an acceptable hypothesis, meaning that there is a significant relationship between authoritarian parenting with juvenile delinquency.
