Abstract

The purpose of this study is to study and describe the economic learning outcomes of students who use the method of guided discovery (discovery learning) using powerpoint media and who help by using conventional methods, and to find out the method of guided discovery (discovery learning) using powerpoint media on the results studying student economics. This research was conducted at YLPI Pekanbaru High School in the XI MIPA class. With Proballity Sampling and Nonprobanility Sampling techniques, two classes are obtained as samples. Experimental class whose learning uses the guided discovery method (discovery learning) using powerpoint media and the learning control class uses conventional methods. The method used in this study is a quasi-experimental method with a Randomized Posttest-Only Control Group Design research design. The research instrument consisted of tests of student economic learning outcomes, tests in the form of description. From the test scores of students' economic learning outcomes obtained second class normally distributed and homogeneous. Then from the calculation of the hypothesis test using the T-Test independent sample test, obtained sig. (2-tailed) in the experimental class and the control class in the results per 0,000 with a significant level (α) 0.05. So accept Ha, the average economic learning outcomes of students who use the guided discovery method (learning media) with powerpoint media on learning outcomes is higher than the average economic learning outcomes of students who use conventional methods. Thus the method of guided discovery (discovery learning) using powerpoint media has a positive effect on student economic learning outcomes.
