Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning process and improve student mathematics learning outcomes through the application of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in class VIII of SMP Widya Graha Pekanbaru in the academic year 2019/2020 as many as 20 students, consisting of 11 male students and 9 female student. This research was conducted on 19 November 2019 to 10 December 2019. This research was a Classroom Action Research (CAR) which was conducted in two cycles. Data collection techniques in this study were carried out by observation techniques and student learning outcomes tests. The observation technique was carried out during the learning process, while the test technique was carried out through daily tests I and daily tests II. The results of the observations were analyzed descriptively qualitatively, while the student learning outcomes were analyzed descriptively quantitatively. The results of this study indicate an increase in the learning process and student mathematics learning outcomes. Improving the learning process can be seen from the teacher and student activity observation sheets. The increase in student mathematics learning outcomes can be seen from the number of students who achieved KKM on the basic score there were 7 students (35%), in daily test I there were 9 students (45%), and in daily test II there were 15 students (75%). ). Based on these results it can be concluded that the application of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model can improve the results of learning mathematics for grade VIII students of SMP Widya Graha Pekanbaru for the 2019/2020 school year.
