Abstract

The Implementation of Problem Solving Learning Model to Improve Students’ Mathematics Learning Outcomes of VIII.3 Class at SMPN 6 Siak Hulu ZAKIYAH LISTYANI NPM. 136411322 Thesis. Mathmatics Education Department. FKIP of Islamic Riau University. Main Supervisor: Dr. Sehatta Saragih, M.Pd. Companiom Supervisor: Rezi Ariawan, M.Pd. ABSTRACT This study aims to revise the learning process and improve students’ mathematics learning outcomes for students of class VIII.3 SMP N 6 Siak Hulu through the implementation of the Problem Solving Learning Model. The subjects in this study were students of class VIII.3 SMPN 6 Siak Hulu in the 2018/2019 school year with a total of 30 students consist of 16 women and 14 men. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) consisting of two cycles. Data collection techniques in this study were observation and test. The observation was done during the learning process, while the test was done through daily tests 1 and daily tests 2. The observations were analyzed by using descriotive qualitatuve, while student learning outcomes were analyzed using descriptive quantitative by analysis of completeness learning outcomes. The results showed that there was an increase in the learning process seen in the observation sheet before the study and after the study, from inactive students to being active. The results also showed that there was an increase in student learning outcomes from the basic score to daily tests 1 and daily tests 2. The number of students who completed the basic score were 9 people or 30% increased in daily test 1 that are 16 people or 53.3% and on daily test 2 increased to 23 people or 76.7%. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the Implementation of the Problem Solving Learning Model Can Improve Students’ Mathematics Learning Outcomes of VIII.3 Class at SMPN 6 Siak Hulu in the academic year 2018/2019.
