Abstract
One of the problems that exist in the Central Gathering Station X is theformation of an emulsion between oil and water in the waste tank. The high levelof emulsion that occurs causes the quality of oil to be sold to be low. Highemulsion levels will cause oil quality to be low. So that the selling price of oilbecomes lower than that of an oil whose emulsification is low. Overcoming the problem of emulsion in the Y field can be overcome bymeans of the oil treatment process which is carried out by the bottle test method, that is by testing the performance of the demulsifier. Tests are carried out with 6different types of demulsifiers and sampling of crude oil in the Y field, thencentrifuge testing of the sample to determine the water content of the sample to betested. Where each crude oil sample is conditioned according to field conditionsusing Waterbath. After the sample is in accordance with the field conditions, thena bottle test is carried out to determine the performance of the demulsifier to beused. In this study 6 types of demulsifier were used, namely PT 1. PT 2. PT 3. PT4. PT 5 and Existing. Tests carried out include testing the speed of waterseparation and testing the amount of separate water percentage. Samples from thebottle test are then taken up top for top cut testing. From the bottle test and the top cut test of the six demulsifier products ata dose of 50 ppm. 80 ppm and 100 ppm, PT-4 is recommended for field testingbecause it is able to separate water perfectly and a small percentage of BS & W is≤ 0.8%.
