Abstract

ABSTRACT Weni Putri. 2019. Profile about Students Reading Interest In Economic Subjects at Pekanbaru YLPI High School 2019/2020 Academic Year Reading activities will be carried out if there is interest from the person concerned. The role of interest occupies the most decisive position besides the ability of students to read. The library at Pekanbaru YLPI High School is well managed and already has its own library room, but not many students really use their free time to read, most of their free time is spent playing or going to the canteen. This study aimed to determine the profile of students' interest in economic subjects. This research is quantitative descriptive study. The population in this study were all students of class X, XI, and XII IPS in SMA YLPI Pekanbaru, amounting to 150 students by the number of samples as many as 109 people. The sampling technique in this research is proportional random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires. The analysis technique used is descriptive analysis. The results of the study prove that the reading profile of students in economic learning as a whole only reaches a percentage of 57.42% which is at an interval of 56% - 70% with a fairly category. These results prove that the student's low interest in reading in economic subjects. This result is evident from the low awareness of reading students in economic subjects where the percentage of indicators of reading awareness only reached 39.45%. The high interest in reading students is only in the curiosity of various knowledge by reading and following up. While the other three indicators only achieved quite good categories, namely the indicators of feeling good about reading activities and feeling of interest in reading, as well as efforts to increase knowledge by reading.
