Abstract

Pekanbaru Class IIA Penitentiary experienced an overcapacity, where the number of occupants far exceeded the capacity provided. As a result of overcapacity, causing the Class IIA Correctional Institution in Pekanbaru to often occur the violence of fellow inmates. This case of violence more often affects the newly recruited inmates, because they forcefully ask for money or goods that belong to the newly entered inmates, which results in a fight, because these inmates defend themselves to defend their rights. In addition, violence in Pekanbaru's Class IIA Correctional Institution was also influenced by social jealousy among fellow inmates and competition between rooms. Formulation mas alah in this research that is how the efforts of Correctional Institutions in dealing with the violence that happened to fellow inmates in the Class II A Correctional Institution in Pekanbaruand what is the obstacle factor in Correctional Institutions in dealing with violence that occurs in fellow inmates in Pekanbaru Class II A Correctional Institution . The research method used in this study is survey, while the nature of this research is descriptive. The population in this study consisted of the Head of Correctional Institutions, the Head of the Security Unit Section of the Correctional Institution (KPLP), security officers and Inmate . Sample in this study the author set it officer 40 person, with technique taking sampled purposive sampling. Data collection tool used is questionnaire and interview. From the research that pe writing did note that the Prisons and more community efforts in addressing violence on fellow inmates at Prisons and more community-Class II A Pekanbaru is preventive measures namely: approaching the assisted people, exercising control over the blocks of assisted citizens, conducting guidance for the assisted citizens, maximizing guarding and supervision, and repressive efforts, namely to impose strict sanctions on the inmates who commit acts of violence. Inhibiting factors for community institutions in dealing with violence that occurs in each of the assisted citizens in the Class II A Pekanbaru Peacekeeping Institutions are: the number of inmates exceeds capacity, the lack of facilities and infrastructure, the lack of officers who secured prisons.
