Abstract

This study aims to find out how avsec interpersonal communication with passengers in overcoming communication conflicts at Sultan Syarif Kasim II Pekanbaru airport. This research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. The determination of the research objectives by using a technique by purposive sampling. The research subject is an Avsec officer, who is the second team commander, airport security chief assistant, airport security supervisor and airport junior & senior security; aps. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques used in this study are data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. Based on the results of the research that has been done, the results obtained are:Interpersonal communication used by avsec officers with passengers is communication both verbally and nonverbally, and verbal communication is done both orally and in writing while nonverbal communication is done with kinesik namely eye contact, facial expressions, gestures, posture. The second is paralanguage pitch, volume, speed, quality.The third is the use of space namely proxemic, territory and artifacts.Barriers that occur in communication are differences in perceptions, poor mental conditions, bad prejudice and differences in status, knowledge of passengers. Efforts to overcome conflict from Avsec officers, namely by persuasive communication carried out with three stages of the persuasive communication process, including communication, learning messages in which there are elements of attention, understanding, learning, acceptance and storage, then the last stage in the persuasive communication process is a change in behavior / attitude.
