Abstract

Keywords: Classroom Climate, English Achievement. The objective of this research is to find out whether any correlation between classroom climate and English achievement of the second year students at SMAN 5 Pekanbaru. The research focuses on students’ classroom climate and their English achievement. This research design of this study was a correlational study. There are two variables: Independent and Dependent variables. The independent variables is classroom climate and dependent variable is English achievement. The sample of this research is 40 students of the second grade student. The instrument of the research is questionnaire and E-raport score. This research used the field research. In the field research, the researcher gives the questionnaire as a classroom climate and takes the documentation of E-raport score as English achievement of the students. The data were analyzed by using SPSS 22. Data had been converted to coefficient correlation by using pearson product moment as a formula to get the value of the data. The result showed that the most indicator that affect English achievement was communicating competently with students which means the presentation was 16.01%. The second was teaching prosocial behavior which means the presentation was 15.44%. The third was establishing classroom rules and procedure which means the presentation was 15.27% . The fourth was organizing a productive classroom climate which means the presentation was 11.49%. The fifth was building positive relationship in the classroom which means the presentation was 9.36%. The sixth was managing small group instruction and independent seatwork which means the presentation was 5.16% and the last is managing transition which means the presentation was 1.45%. In addition, the result of value of correlation coefficient is 0.862 bigger than 0.320 at 5% level of significance and 0.413 at 1% level of significance where df is 38. It means that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted.
