Abstract

This study aims to determine directly how the process of the manufacture of musical instruments xylophone produced by Salman Aziz in Bangkinang District Kampar Regency, Riau Province and an inventory of Gambang songs. According to Andre Schaeffner (2005:13) organology consists of: 1) Inventory, 2) Terminology/naming, 3) Classification of musical instruments, 4) Description of instrument construction music, 5) Musical sound production, 6) History of musical instruments, 7) Functions of musical instruments, 8) Musical instrument craftsman status. According to A. Gima Sugiama (2013: 173 .) ) "Asset inventory is a series of activities to collect data, recording, reporting the results of asset data collection, and documenting it properly tangible assets and intangible assets at a certain time. Asset inventory is carried out to obtain data on all assets owned, controlled by a company organization or government agency. All assets need to be inventoried both those obtained at the expense of their own funds ( investment), grants or other means". This study uses descriptive analysis research using qualitative data. Technique data collection using observation techniques, interviews, and documentation. This study uses data analysis techniques, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion/verification. From the results of research conducted Researchers can conclude that the xylophone is an idiophone musical instrument which has 6 blades and has an umah xylophone in the shape of a lengthwise has a resonance chamber. how to play it by hitting on each blade using a bat made of wood. This xylophone often played when waiting for rice in the middle of the field (banjar-banjar field) and under the tall house. The xylophone has the same tone as Calempong then the song played is the same as the song Calempong. List the behavior of the song, namely: want to go home to sleep, act sideways, brother weighs clothes, Sendayuong ago, Sendayuong tionti, Senduik.
