Abstract

Based on the results of observations on class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Tapung, there are still many students who have not mastered the basic techniques of shot put correctly and also lacking enthusiasm in the learning process. The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in learning outcomes of o'brien style shot put through the STAD type cooperative learning model in class VIII of SMP Negeri 1 Tapung Sarigaluh. This type of research is PTK (Class Action Research). The population in this study were eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Tapung Sarigaluh, amounting to 25 people. Which consists of 16 sons and 9 daughters. The sample technique in this study is total sampling. The research instruments were Syllabus, RPP, and Rublik Assessment. Average Cycle I Learning of 83 students with a number of students who passed 72%. The second cycle increased to 97 with the percentage of completeness of students 100%. The conclusion that can be drawn from this study is that the STAD method can improve the learning outcomes of the basic techniques of o'brien style shot put the Class VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Tapung Sarigaluh.
