Abstract

There are still students who have not been maximal in doing basic techniques of long service badminton. There are still students who are still wrong in carrying out basic techniques of long service badminton. Not yet known the level of ability of long service in badminton games in class VII5 SMP Negeri 35 Pekanbaru Academic Year 2017/2018. This type of research is a classroom action research consisting of 2 variables. The population in this study were all students of class VII5 of SMP Negeri 35 Pekanbaru in 2017/2018 Academic Year totaling 30 students. The sampling technique used is total sampling with a variety of considerations from the researchers thus the number of samples in this study amounted to 30 students. The test instrument used was a long service forehand badminton performance. Based on the results of the long service forehand badminton study using the playing method on class VII5 students of SMP Negeri 35 Pekanbaru in the Academic Year 2017/2018, the average ability of students in the first cycle of badminton using the playing method was categorized Good with a percentage of 86.67%.
