Abstract

The implementation of body exercise is a process of carrying out regular and regular exercises in order to form and prepare the body before dancing. This research is motivated by the dance achievements by the children at the Tasik Malay Art’s studio because behind the dance achievements are not just choreography, clothing and make-up but also trained body exercise. According to Sumedi Santosa (1986: 1) body exercise is a cluster of exercises that have been thought out for their use and benefits and are carried out systematically and methodically with predetermined goals. In this study the authors used a qualitative descriptive method and data sources obtained based on the results of observations, interviews and documentation. The results can be concluded that the implementation of body exercises to children carried out at the Sanggar Tasik Malay Art consists of three stages starting with a 10 minute of warm up, 15 minute core exercise and 5 minute cooling down, the warm up movement is carried out like a wram up movement in general, starting from running to bending the legs alternately, specifically for core movements carried out according to children's abilities, difficult for children to do is split movements and horse stances, and the exercises at the Tasik Malay Art’s studio emphasize the process more until the children can do the body exercises well.
