Abstract

The purpose of this study is to know the motivation of seventh grade students in taking physical education at MTS Bustanul Ulum Pekanbaru. This typeof research uses quantitative descriptive research population points in this study totaling 60 MTS Bustanul Ulum students. The research instrument used a valid 22 item questionnaire, a Likert scale, and analysis data with percentage techniques. The results of this study indicate that the motivation of Class VII students in following physical education activities at MTS Bustanul Ulum Pekanbaru. On the sub-indicator of the desire to succeed is 81.50%, there is encouragement and needs in learning 77.66%, theexpectations and aspirations of the future 58%, There is an award in learning 62.77%, There is a conducive learning environment 56,00%. It can be concluded that the motivation of VII grade students in participating in physical education activities at MTS Bustanul Ulum Pekanbaru reached a percentage of 67.18% included in the less category.
