Abstract

This study reveals the problem of how the imperative utterances and the politeness scale of Leech in each utterance in the film dialogue Air Mata Langit director Hestu Saputra. The purpose to be revealed is to describe the scale of politeness in the imperative utterances in the film dialogue Air Mata Langit Directed by Hestu Saputra. This research uses descriptive method. The research approach used is qualitative. The technique used is see and note. The data source in this study is all the speeches of the characters contained in the film. The theory used in the imperative is the theory put forward by Rahardi and the politeness scale put forward by Leech. The results of this study reveal that there are 48 imperative utterances with classification; ordinary imperatives totaling 23 utterances, imperative requests as much as 15 utterances, imperative granting permits as many as 0 utterances, imperative invitations totaling 7 utterances and imperative as many as 3 utterances. From the imperative classification above there are 5 speech loss and gain scale, 10 speech choice scale, 0 speech unsustainability scale, 9 speech authority scale and 24 speech distance social scale.
