Abstract

The principle of politeness in language as an effort to avoid conflicts between speakers and speech partners in the communication process. The problem in this research is How is the principle of politeness in the Indonesian Lawyers Club Debate on Tv One ?. The purpose of this study is to describe, analyze and interpret the principle of politeness that occurs in the Indonesia Lawyers Club debate program that aired on Tv One station. The theory that I use is Wijana's (1996) politeness principle. The data sources of this research are all the speeches of the presenter and speakers in the Indonesia Lawyers Club debate on Tv One. The method used is descriptive method. The technique that I use in this research is documentation technique, listening technique, note taking technique. The results showed speech in the Indonesian Lawyers Club debate on tv One there were 240 speeches. The results of the author's study of the principle of politeness consisting of 6 maxims, namely 1) polite wisdom maxims amounted to 30 utterances and impolite wisdom maxims amounted to 34 utterances from 240 utterances. 2) the maximum polite reception is 10 utterances and the polite polite maximal reception is 15. 3) The polite courtesy maxim is 42 utterances and the polite courtesy maxim is 43 utterances. 4) The maxim of modesty modesty amounts to 12 utterances and the maxim of modesty modesty amounts to 17 utterances from 240 utterances. 5) The polite suitability maxim is 22 utterances and the polite polite maxim is 14 out of 240 utterances. 6) the polite maxim of sympathy amounted to 1 utterance and the polite sympathetic maxim not existed.
