Abstract
This study aims to determine the teacher's ability to use audio-visual media in thematic learning for class V at SD Muhammadiyah 6 Pekanbaru, to find out the teacher's obstacles in using audio-visual media in thematic learning, and to find solutions to overcome the obstacles of teachers in utilizing audio-visual media in thematic learning. . This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The subjects in this study were 3 teachers, 3 students and 1 principal. This study uses three data collection techniques, namely observation, interviews, and documentation. Data validity techniques include source and technique triangulation. Research data analysis includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The conclusion of the research shows that the teacher has the ability to use audio-visual media in the thematic learning of class V SD Muhammadiyah 6 Pekanbaru, as evidenced by the 15 questions asked, 13 answers from the fifth grade teacher in accordance with the theory of teacher competence/competence. Furthermore, the teacher's obstacles in utilizing audio-visual media are more related to preparation constraints, technical constraints, media quality constraints taken from YouTube, free time constraints and the ability of teachers as well as constraints on students' lack of understanding in online learning. This obstacle can be overcome by teachers by preparing the equipment to be used, modifying or designing their own media, seeking to attend training and seminars and teachers must make variations in learning.
