Abstract

This study aims to determine the aesthetic value of Motion in the dance of Preventing Creations in Pangkalan Kerinci District, Pelalawan Regency, Riau Province Academic Year 2018/2019. This type of research is qualitative. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method, namely observation, interview, and documentation. The author makes observations, then conducts interviews with various sources. The author reviews the document about the data or information that the author has got. This research was conducted in Pangkalan Kerinci District, Pelalawan Regency. The results of this study indicate that the aesthetic value in Mengenceh dance can be seen from the elements of dance itself such as: motion, fashion and dance accompaniment. The theory that the author uses to find out the aesthetic value of Mengenceh dance is The Liang Gie's theory (1975 and 1983). according to the extent of understanding, namely: a) beauty in the widest sense, b) beauty in a pure aesthetic sense, c) beauty in the limited sense in relation to vision. The Liang Gie who says beauty is basically a number of certain basic qualities found in all things. Kwalita which is most often referred to is unity (unity), harmony (harmony), equality (symmetry), balance (balance), and resistance (contrast).
