Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the creativity of students in learning Creative Arts Culture in class IX Ujungbatu 1 Junior High School in Rokan Hulu Regency, Riau Province. The study took place in class IX of SMP 1 Ujungbatu. The subjects of this study were 1 teacher of Cultural Arts in Ujungbatu 1 Public High School, as well as class IX students consisting of 31 students. Data analysis used in this study is qualitative descriptive analysis, where data and information obtained from the field are described data about the creativity of students in learning Creative Arts Dance Culture which was carried out 4 times. The research data was collected by means of observation, interviews and documentation. Based on the results of the research, creative dance teaching is still in the not yet creative category. Based on the results of the creativity data that the observational researchers have shown that children's creativity can be increased again by improving the learning process of dance, one of which is that the teacher can use a more appropriate learning strategy. The strategy applied in dance learning at Ujung Batupada Junior High School 1 grade IX is less supportive in developing children's creativity because children only imitate the original dance they will create and at least the opportunity for children to express their opinions and be creative.
