Abstract

This research aims to improve the learning process and mathematics self efficacy and mathematics learning outcomes of students at class VII 2 of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Pekanbaru through implementation of Problem-Based Learning models. This research was conducted in the odd semester of the school year 2018/2019 which began on September 4 th 2018 until October 18 th 2018. The subjects were the students of class VII 2 SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Pekanbaru Academic Year 2018/2019. This research conducted is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which consists of two cycles. The instruments of data collection in this study were learning outcomes tests, observation sheets and student mathematics self efficacy questionnaire sheets.The data collection techniques test technique, the observation technique, and the questionnaire technique. The results of the analysis were qualitative descriptive, while the student learning outcomes and the results of the Self Efficacy Mathematics questionnaire students were analyzed descriptively quantitatively. The result show that: (1)there is improvement of the learning process can be seen from the observation sheet of teacher and student activities; (2) Overall there was does not have an impact on improvement in Mathematical Self Efficacy of students seen from the Mathematical Self Efficacy category; (3) the improvement mean score learning outcome of mathematics student is the basic score (44,75), UH 1 (46,87), and UH 2 (63,67). Based on the results of these studies it can be concluded that the implementation of the problem-based learning model can improve the learning process and learning outcomes of mathematics however the problem-based learning model does not have an impact on improvement in Mathematical Self Efficacy of students at classVII 2 SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Pekanbaru.
