Abstract

Lack of teachers' ability in planning and using learning media makes the learning process in the classroom passive and makes children more eager to learn. In this study the objective to be achieved is to determine the effect of the monopoly game simulation in the STAD type cooperative learning model on the learning outcomes of junior high school students. The population in this study were all class VIII 4 of SMP 4 Bathin Solapan 2018/2019 school year. The sample in this study were students of class VIII-4 as the experimental class and VIII-5 as the control class. This type of research is quasi experimental research with the design of Nonequivalent control group. The instruments of data collection used in this study were the pretest and posttest sheets. The data analysis technique used is descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. Based on descriptive statistical analysis, the average value of the students' pretest and posttest in the experimental class was 34.5 and 59.55 while those in the control class were 32, 92 and 58.84. In this study the pretest data of the two classes showed that there was a difference because it used a test of the difference in the two average N-gain.
