Abstract

The problem in this research is about Empowerment of Sago Micro Businesses by the Meranti Islands Regency Trade Industry Office that is still ineffective. This can be seen from counseling, coaching, which was carried out only 3 times in 2018. The purpose of this research is to find out, analyze, and describe the Empowerment of Sago Micro Businesses in Meranti Regency, and to identify inhibiting factors in the Empowerment of Sago Micro Businesses in Meranti Regency. The type of this research was conducted descriptive qualitative. The focus of this research determined the Empowerment of Sago Micro entrepreneurs by the Industrial Department, Commerce, Cooperatives and Small and Medium Busines s in Meranti Regency. The research informants were the Head of the Meranti Islands Regency Trade Industry Office, the Head of the Meranti Regency UKM, and the Sago Micro entrepreneurs . While the data collection technique was carried out by means of observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this research showed that the empowerment of micro sago entrepreneurs was indeed running smoothly although there were several obstacles in empowering micro sago business entrepreneurs. Whereas in the implementation of empowerment at the counseling stage, Sago M icro entrepreneurs could not yet understand what had been done by this department because counseling was done that was not yet maximum where the numbers could be calculated so that the weak knowledge gained by the micro sago entrepreneurs in Meranti Regency in utilizing the results of the empowerment of business people, sago micro in Meranti Regency. The Obstacles in this empowerment process are inadequate APBD funds so that the department is not able to conduct training and counseling as much as possible, besides that the knowledge of micro sago entrepreneurs is still lacking and does not take the initiative to make their business more advanced.
