Abstract

This study aims to see The Effect of Contextual Learning Approach towards Mathematics Learning Outcomes of VIII Grades Students of SMPIT Aziziyyah Pekanbaru on academic years of 2018/2019 specifically on System of Linear Equation with Two Variable Material. This kinds of research is experimental research that uses quasi-experimental methods and Nonequivalent Control Group Design with a population of research that involving all students of VIII Grades at SMPIT Aiziyyah Pekanbaru. The sample is selected by purposive sampling technique, as the result that class VIII.1 is selected as the experimental class and class VIII.2 as the control class. The data collection technique uses test techniques which are analyzed by using descriptive data analysis and inferential data analysis and and non-test techniques with observation sheets for the implementation of contextual learning approaches that is analyzed by descriptive qualitative data analysis as well. The result of qualitative descriptive data analysis shows that each step in contextual learning has been carried out as it should. Based on the results of the descriptive analysis, the average post-test learning outcomes of the experimental class students (VIII.1) = 68.41 and the control class (VIII.2) = 54.04. Furthermore, based on the analysis of t-test data it is known that ( ) with α = 0,05 then H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted which means that mathematics learning outcomes of students with contextual learning are greater than student learning outcomes with conventional learning. This also indicates that there is an effect of the contextual learning approach to mathematics learning outcomes of VIII grade students of SMPIT Aziziyyah Pekanbaru.
