Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning process and improve the mathematics learning outcomes of class VII students of SMP 5 Kandis through the application of cooperative learning models of the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) type. Subjects in this study were VII grade students of SMP 5 Kandis in the 2017/2018 school year with 35 students consisting of 16 male students and 19 female students. The form of this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which consists of two cycles. The instruments of data collection in this study were observation sheets and learning outcomes tests. The data collection techniques in this research are observation techniques and learning outcomes tests. Data analysis techniques in this study are qualitative data analysis and quantitative data analysis. The results showed that there was an improvement in the learning process and an increase in the mathematics learning outcomes of class VII students of SMP 5 Kandis. This can be seen from the first cycle to the second cycle experiencing an increase in the process, namely the learning process that is applied is getting better and really has led to the STAD type cooperative learning model. The number of students who achieved KKM on the base score of 22 students increased on the daily test I to 24 students then increased on the second test II to 26 students. From the results of the study it can be concluded that the Application of Cooperative Learning Model Student Teams Achievement Type (STAD) can Improve Learning Processes and Improve Mathematics Learning Outcomes of Class VII Students of SMP 5 Kandis Academic Year 2017/2018.
